National Planning Commission Secretariat Economic Management Division Introduction Economic Management Division (EMD) of the NPC Secretariat is basically responsible for formulating macroeconomic policies, monitoring & evaluating macroeconomic trends, preparing perspective and periodic plans and programs relating to the economic sector of the country. It also performs the functions pertaining to Economic, Foreign Aid Coordination matters and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) and the Colombo Plan. The Division falls directly under one of the NPC member and is headed by the Joint Secretary of NPCS. Other staffs included in the Division are two Programme Directors (Under Secretaries), four Planning Officers (Section Officers), Office and Computer Assistants.The Division is comprises of two sections namely (i) Industry,Commerce, Supply and Tourism (ii) Macro Policy Analysis, Programme & Budget and Foreign Aid Coordination (F.A.C). Two Programme Directors carry out their assignments as the chief of their concerned section under the supervision/guidance of Joint Secretary with support of their four Planning Officers and other Assistant level staffs.
