Poverty Monitoring Division
Sections & Functions
To perform the above-mentioned functions there are three Sections under the Division. The roles and responsibilities of these Sections are as the following:
A. Monitoring and Evaluation (Economic/Social) Section
Its specific aspects related with the economic and social sectors to carry out following roles and responsibilities:
- To monitor and evaluate the on-going development policies, programmes and projects under the economic and social sector.
- To assist the concerned line ministries and other agencies in developing capacities of human resources for monitoring and evaluation of policies, programmes and projects.
- To assist the concerned economic and social sector line ministries in determining performance indicators of development programs and projects. Also monitor and evaluate the programmes and projects on the basis of those performance indicators.
- To computerize the latest progress of prioritized development projects, update regularly and submit the brief statement of progress of all concerned line ministries of economic and social sectors.
- To conduct outcome and impact evaluation of policies, programmes and projects under economic and social sectors. And to assist in the evaluation of periodic plan, and on-going programmes and projects implemented in the country.
- Perform any other functions relating to monitoring and evaluation as per the guidance of the Division Chief.
B. Monitoring and Evaluation (Infrastructure/Rural Development) Section
Its specific aspects related with the Infrastructure and rural development sectors to carry out following roles and responsibilities:
- To monitor and evaluate the on-going development policies, programmes and projects under the infrastructure/rural development sector.
- To assist the concerned line ministries and other agencies in developing capacities of human resources for monitoring and evaluation of policies, programmes and projects.
- To assist the concerned infrastructure/rural development sector line ministries in determining performance indicators of development programmes and projects. Also monitor and evaluate the programmes and projects on the basis of the performance indicators.
- To computerize the latest progress of prioritized development projects, update regularly and submit the brief statement of progress of all concerned line ministries of infrastructure/rural development sector.
- To conduct outcome and impact evaluation of policies, programmes and projects under infrastructure/rural development sector. And assist to evaluate periodic plan, and on-going programmes and projects implemented in the country.
- Perform any other functions relating to monitoring and evaluation as per the guidance of the Division Chief.
- To participate in seminar, workshops, training and other meetings to be held at ministries and other concerned agencies
- To work as a member of various committees/sub-committees constituted under concerned government agencies.
- To prepare the report on the queries raised by parliamentarians as such related to the sectors.
C. Poverty Monitoring Section:
The specific roles and responsibilities are to:
- To assist in formulating national poverty reduction strategies/policies by providing necessary data and information and coordinate the functions as and when necessary.,
- To work for the institutional development of Poverty Monitoring System and also for developing human resources for it.
- To publish progress report of the poverty reduction strategies regularly.
- To coordinate the process of preparing progress report of the Millennium Development Goals.
- To develop poverty monitoring indicators of different levels and refine them as and when necessary.
- To determine the information sources for regular monitoring and evaluation of poverty related indicators.
- To analyze and evaluate the outcome and impact of development programmes and projects on poverty reduction.
- To coordinate other sectoral programmes related with poverty reduction and prepare recommendation on this subject as and when necessary.
- To perform other daily functions of the Section.
- To participate in seminar, workshops, trainings and other meetings to be held at ministries and other concerned agencies.
- To work as a member of various committees/sub-committees constituted under concerned government agencies.
- To prepare the report on the queries raised by parliamentarians as such related to the sectors.
