National Planning Commission Secretariat Social Development Division Introduction Social Development Division (SDD) is basically responsible for formulating development policies on education, sports and human resource, heath, nutrition and population, and women, children, social welfare and labour sectors of the country. It also includes scholarships management, monitoring social development trends, preparing perspective and periodic plans and programs. This division additionally deals with social sector issues in relation to South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) and project/program screen and approval of International non-governmental organizations (INGOs) working in Nepal. This division is headed by the Joint Secretary of NPCS. The SDD carries its functions through the three sections namely (i) Health, Nutrition, and Population (ii) Education and Human Resource (iii) Women, Children, Social Welfare and Labour. Three Program Directors (Under Secretaries) lead three sections. There are six Planning Officer (Section Officers) and three Office and Computer Assistants.
